One of the biggest trends in the world of mobile phones is ringtones. A ringtone is the sound you hear when someone calls you. Usually, this tone consists of a piece of music. It is a great alternative to the traditional ringing sound most people are accustomed to. One of the reasons people like music to play instead of a ringing sound is because it is simply more fun and expressive. You can choose most any song imaginable to serve as your tone. There are all kinds of music genres from which to choose, including rock, rap, country, classical and many more.

Another trend is that of the multipurpose phone. For example the Apple iPhone is a device that does so much more than just make and receive calls. It can do everything, including play music, take pictures and connect to the Internet. It has an innovative touchpad screen and is currently one of the top sellers in the cell phone industry. Even less technologically advanced phones can store music and take pictures. This is like having a cell phone, digital camera and mp3 player all in one.

Today's mobile phones also feature all kinds of fun games. The phones with Internet capabilities often have games that can be played against other gamers in real time. If you don't like the games your phone came with, you can always download more of them. Another thing you can download is wallpaper, which is the image shown on the screen of your phone. Wallpaper can be customized, for example you can choose a favorite photo. Or, you can select from various available wallpapers. You can change wallpapers to suit your preferences. If you get bored with your existing image, simply activate a different one.

Ringtones can also be downloaded from the Internet. You may have also seen those commercials on TV that instruct you to text a certain number to access a variety of ringtone choices. While there are all kinds of free and low cost extras available for most phones, it is important to read the fine print. Sometimes there are hidden charges that come along with these handy features. If you are interested in extras for your mobile phone, a good place to start would be with your provider. If they don't have what you want, you can probably find it online.
